Sake
Sake is a Japanese word meaning "alcoholic beverage", but in Western countries refers to a type of Japanese alcoholic beverage prepared from an infusion made from rice, and known in Japan as nihonshu.

In the West, sake is commonly referred to as "rice wine", but this designation is completely unacceptable since "wine" is a drink obtained exclusively by alcoholic fermentation of grape juice. The production of alcoholic beverages by fermentation of grain is most common in beer than in wine. There are also other beverages known as "rice wine" that are significantly different from nihonshu.
